Dharmendra

Dharmendra (1935–2025) was an iconic Indian actor, producer, and politician, celebrated as one of the greatest and most commercially successful stars in Hindi cinema. Over a career spanning 65 years, he appeared in more than 300 films, earning the nickname “He-Man” for his action roles and holding the record for the highest number of hit films in Bollywood history. Rising to fame in the 1960s with *Phool Aur Patthar* and *Ayee Milan Ki Bela*, he went on to deliver classics like *Sholay*, *Seeta Aur Geeta*, *Jugnu*, and *Dost*, while also earning acclaim for performances in films such as *Bandini*, *Satyakam*, and *Chupke Chupke*. In later years, he transitioned to character roles in acclaimed works like *Life in a... Metro*, *Apne*, and *Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani*. Beyond cinema, he served as a BJP Member of Parliament from Bikaner and was the patriarch of the Deol family. Honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 2012 and posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2026, Dharmendra’s legacy endures as a towering figure who shaped generations of Indian film audiences.
