Jisshu Sengupta

Jisshu Sengupta (born Biswaroop Sengupta; 15 March 1977) is a prominent Indian actor, producer, and television presenter, best known for his work in Bengali cinema, with notable contributions to Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada films. He first gained recognition on television with *Mahaprabhu* (1998), where his portrayal of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu made him a household name. His film debut came with *Priyojon* (1999), though it was unsuccessful commercially. In 2002, he played Rabindranath Tagore in *Chelebela*, further establishing his artistic range. Sengupta’s Bollywood debut was in Shyam Benegal’s *Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero* (2004), a National Award-winning film. His career took a significant turn with collaborations with Rituparno Ghosh, including *Abohomaan*, *Shob Charitro Kalponik*, and *Noukadubi*, which earned him both critical acclaim and commercial success.
